Saying goodbye to my brothers!

Aw... my brothers took me to the airport and then had to walk out with a crock pot and a cute red bag with some high heels in it. Ha ha! Thanks guys! I love you!!!

At the airport... leaving the good U.S. of A

The two bags in the back... had to stay behind. :( But since a friend has brought some things for me.
Isaac wondering how I could have SO much stuff... both my brothers were extremely confused as to why I had a crock pot in my suitcase. Sadly, the crock pot had to stay!

Sisters...

So my sister and I LOVE us some SWEETS! Any kind...

Mom... on her way to SPAIN!

So... I saw my mom off to Spain... it was kinda weird staying behind. :)

Sprinkes... yummie cupcakes.

So my sister introduced me to SPRINKES! Wow! Good stuff...
Inside this little box... OH... some yummie... well take a look...

CUPCAKES!!!! Red velvet AND chocolate. By the way sis, you owe me a red velvet! ;)

Momma's cooking!

Wow... so while I was home in the great state of TEXAS... my mom made some CHILE RELLENOS! Woo hoo!

Ah... almost ready...
Don't they look PERFECT... by the way... they were yummie!!!

NOTHING is small here... (insect wise that is)...

Check this out! Actual size! It totally freaked me out. I almost called some friends to come take care of it... but was too scared to think of it flying around in my flat. I used a broom! Yuck!

Dubai

I was told he is a prince... didn't get his name...
I think if you enlarge the picture you can see that on the left side the sign says "Mosque for women".

Dubai... gifts...

So my friends from Dubai were EVER so kind and blessed me with ALL these gifts. I had not had Ranch Doritos in over a year!!! Mmm ... so good! Also, check out the cute pj's on the sofa! So, I got an extra special gift. Two sweet gals got me an Ipod b/c my old one was dying and I use it to record my Arabic lessons. Thank you ladies! :)

Inside a BIG mosque...

These are some of the children I saw inside... they start attending the school at the mosque at an early age.
Was very curious to know what the little boy was saying... but both little girls were very attentive...
They made me veil.... (also was wearing a long sleeve black shirt that was dress-like and had to take off my shoes). I am sitting with a friend... NOT a stranger.

Good things!

So I was totally blessed... some friends from Houston brought me all these goodies, plus some Avon goodies for my friends! Ah... so grateful for the tuna...
My sweet friend, Candis, sent me these books and other goodies.

A friend...

She is a very very sweet girl!

Making Venezuelan Arepas... yummie!

So... I have some friends here who used to live in Venezuela and they had me over for dinner. We had arepas... a typical Venezuelan meal. Mmm....I got to help prepare the dough. :)
Here is my friend cooking the arepas! They were "deliciosas".

"It's fog".

So here in this city... when you see that haze of pollution the nationals (at least my friends) call it "fog". These are the days I have to be sure to take my allergy medicine! :)

Streets in a shabeya area... part 1...

A shabeya area is a poorer part of town... very entertaining... and NEVER a dull moment... this is a picture of my view walking into the neighborhood.

Streets in a shabeya area... part 2...

Just thought this was a cool picture... not quite sure what she was looking at...
Gotta love it... my language helper would use a similar basket to lower the key for me to get into the building...

Streets in a shabeya area... part 3...

So... I loved passing by this kiosk... the little old lady was So cute...
Check out this traffic jam that was stopping traffic... even the pedestrians.... ha ha... look closely... it's a DONKEY! :)

Mohamed's Birthday

On Mohamed's birthday you are suppose to buy a doll for a child. The dolls were throughout the whole city.

Aaron and Abigail

Aren't they beautiful!
